Hi everyone
Just found this site looking for info about the Alphington Inn, Alphington.
Now closed I believe.
Would anyone know of the 'Green' Family who lived there around 1920-30.
Frederick, Caroline, Ruby,Violet,Olive,George,Winifred,Gladys.
Frederick was landlord along with Horace Russell who married my mother.
They had one daughter called Dora Russell who was married from the Alphington Inn and then went on to live at the "corner house" Luppitt.
The Green family also lived in other cottages in Alphington before or after owning the Alphington Inn.
I tried writing to the present owner of the Inn but received no reply.
As we are in Australia researching can be difficult.
Any info would be helpful
Thank you
Marina

G'day Marina, welcome to the forum.
You have the right sounding name for the village, but the wrong spelling, the village you want is Alfington, located about 10 miles east of Exeter, there you will find an old pub called the Alfington inn.
A good starting point for researching anything "Devon" is The Devon FHS located here;

cheers
grockle.
